The simple fact is that this generation of consoles is underpowered. Think about how people line up for days to spend $600 on an iPhone 6 despite minimal differences in the current phone they only bought 1 year ago for $600.... They are happy to do it. Why then are people reluctant to spend that kind of money and more on a new console which only comes around every 6-8 years? Perhaps it's a residual effect from the poor PS3 first year sales but the industry is very wary of price point. If PS4, Wii U or Xbone weren't so concerned with price maybe 1080p/60fps wouldn't be this holy grail of gaming that devs seem incapable of delivering.... |
The mobile phone market is huge compared to console market. Alot of people that dont buy Consoles buy Phones and they are willing to spend more. A Phone is just something hundreds of millions of people every year are willing to spend big money on. Its also a thing that is used daily hours long people can justify spending more on those things.
