When will the 3DS surpass the GBA in Japan?

Within two weeks.

You'll have the MH4G debacle, as a lot of people will find the ZL/ZR and the C-Stick useful.
You'll also have the Smash 3DS crowd.
You'll also have the Square Enix titles like Final Fantasy Explorers and Dragon Quest X to sweeten the deal.

And, you have the promise of a massive JRPG over the horizon with Xenoblade X3D. (Was thinking of the Wii U here.)
