Unlocked ROB, last of them all. Now i need to vet my new mains. First i trained with the characters i was totally unfamiliar with (Megaman and Villager i knew from the demo, Greninja, Palutena, and Little Mac i tested out in Classic Mode, which still left me a good handful of characters i was totally unfamiliar with, deliberately avoiding the learning curve characters like Shulk or Dog)
The way All Star mode works now, i think it would be a good way to vet first-round eliminations. I was going to use Unlimited Smash, but the way the multi-man teams work, certain moves from certain characters are good to sweep them up, regardless of how skilled you are otherwise. With All Star they seem to have merely toyed with the handicap instead of making them Multi-Men-esque as they did before. So i can do a Hard Mode All Star run and see how far i get and what sort of score i can rack up before I am eliminated. Only round one losses will get a mulligan (higher likelihood of it being a mere stupid mistake on my part).
That will eliminate 25 of the 50. Second i'll drop it down to the top 10 with a series of CPU Smash battles per character, with the final score added up across three matches, culling a further 15 characters.
With the top 10, i go online to test each against the real deal, and bring it down to the top 5
I'm assuming for now that Kirby and Game and Watch will make it. They were the only two who held over from Melee to Brawl, and Kirby is still a natural for me, and with a bit more practice i've already adjusted to the minor edits from Game and Watch. Ike seems like he might hold over as well, but i very much doubt Dedede will stay.
Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
