FishyJoe - is this from playing Rock Band, or not?
Because in my case, when you get into Hard and Expert modes on Rock Band, your learning how to play 16th notes on the High Hat, while keeping a good beat with the bass pedal, and snare. Definately something that can help in real life. Before playing Rock Band, I could never do the bass pedal reliabily on alternating notes, while keeping a steady 4th Note rhytmn on the high hat, and 2nd notes on the snare. Now I can do a standard beat as such, throwing in bass pedal at will, keeping perfect time.
Of course a paid-for drum teacher will let you learn more, but it's not like learning from a teacher like that is nearly as fun as winding your way through And Justice For All on Hard.
