Apologies for reviving a mostly dead thread but I feel this video of Anita speaking about her 2 year stint of dealing with online harassment. Definitely worth a watch

Major take away- People are willing to believe rather radical conspiracy theories rather than logical arguments when they feel an interest of theirs is being threatened somehow. ALSO- Women are often the target of victim blaming ("you asked for it", "you're making it up").
