On paper. http://www.gameranx.com/updates/id/20377/article/xbox-one-vs-ps4-amd-outs-console-like-gpus/ It seems that the PS4-like R7-265 offers solid performance given its low price point and may be worth paying a little extra for over the Xbox One-similar R7-260 http://www.kdramastars.com/articles/34474/20140825/pc-vs-console.htm With the PS4's GPU capabilities closer to a Radeon HD 7870, http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/release/130221a_e.html 1.843 TFLOPS. http://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/2558/radeon-r7-265.html 1843 GFLOPS = 1.843 TFLOPS.
Now, consider all the factors that affect performance, CPU, RAM, GPU, and the developer also affects performance. Even with all the other 3 factors identical, the developer will affect performance. The consoles have weak CPUs, but pretty good RAM. So even if the GPU is pretty much identical, it can still be held back by the CPU and like I said the developer. Compare the best looking game released in the first year, to the best looking game on the last year. There's always a gigantic improvement. This is because of updates, and the developers becoming more familiar with the hardware. |
You're right. I made a mistake then and I apologize.... Thanks for providing sources!
So, here's this GPU instead: R9-270x

It's the same price, which keeps that build at $400 bucks, and it out performs the PS4.
