I have a fairly standard process for approaching new games.
1) If it looks good, and there's a demo->try it and buy if it's good.
2) Only pay attention to it if it gets 70+ on metacritic.
It's not a perfect way of dealing with things. But there are a lotta games nowadays, especially on PC. Need a quick process!
