By that statement they just meant that they didn't run the X1 version in a higher resolution because the outrage would've been even worse.
I think the Xbox fans are taking this with a lot of gravitas. While all the Playstation fanboys are embarrassing themselves with a lack of knowledge of basic computer hardware concepts.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
