I think this is a great idea.
What exactly is wrong with acknowledging Nintendo has a great and successful idea?
If they offer patches for key past games (Bioshock/HALO), I'll be first in line!!!

Hell yes. And yet, the hate it stirs up among fanboys will be monumental. So far in all the places this has been posted, you're the only other one I've seen who thinks it's a good idea.
People, we don't work for Nintendo. Why should we care if MS is ripping them off? What matters is whether or not this would improve our gaming experience, and I think it most definitely would. Come on, Wii's FPS controls applied to this generation's defining FPSs instead of backwoods WWII shooters and adventure/puzzle shooters? RE5 with RE4: Wii Edition's controls? Strategy games with mouse-style pointer support? How can you possibly complain about that? All the potential for these control schemes that's being wasted on the Wii would be realized on the 360.
It doesn't matter whether a late-comer peripheral like this would be universally successful. I would buy it, and I think it would be worth it.
Edit: oh, and has anybody mentioned that Microsoft, not Nintendo, pioneered motion-sensing controllers? The Sidewinder, anyone?
