Some people are already playing it, and are praising its gameplay. That doesn't sound too bad to me.

People loved the first few hours of Destiny when they played the beta too. There is a lot that could go wrong, i.e not enough content on release, rigid gameplay, repetition, etc. that would be hard to pinpoint after just a few hours of playing.

Like I said though, I might be wrong. From my experience though, almost every game that has a review embargo has turned out to have less than stellar reviews. There is absolutely no reason for an embargo if you are comfortable with the game reviews, since even halfway positive reviews generate a ton of hype.

So what you're saying now is that embargos are good for us because they ensure reviewers continue playing the game instead of rushing for clicks with an early review?

Yeah, no, not even close. Reviewers get the game a long time before everyone else, they usually have enough time to comfortably beat the game and assess it. MMOs are the only real exception, and Driveclub is obviously NOT an MMO.
