Are you being sarcastic? Well I will bite. It actually is less of a difference because of the law of depreciating returns. The difference between 480 and 720 is 240p but it is bigger of a difference than 720 and 1080 which is 360p

If you're an Xbox gamer it is.   

Of course, I'll give you guys the benefit of the doubt and just assume that you're just comparing 480i on a CRT TV vs 720p on a LCD TV.  However, the difference isn't quite as big if you compare both 480p and 720p on the same LCD TV.  Regardless, I have a 1080p TV, so I prefer the console that is actually going to make use of it.
