So recently I've been playing another round of Xenoblade. I figured I might as well do a list here.
WARNING, THERE ARE SPOILERS BELOW. LEAVE NOW IF YOU HAVE NOT BEATEN THIS GAME AND HAVE INTEREST IN DOING SO.
Without further ado, commence the list.
10. Makna Forest
This entry isn't the most exciting entry, so bear with me. This was the part of the game when I actually started to explore around. The jungle theme of this area is amazing, and I was blown away by the falls. This was also the first part of the game where I knew that secret areas existed, and I immediately set out to find other areas. Luckily, there are(I think) 5 secret areas in Makna forest, so it gave me a lot to do.
9. Duel at Valak Mountain
This was a moment that introduced a few things. One was Mumkhar being Metal Face. The second was the introduction of Egil. It also left many questions. But one thing no one could question, is how awesome Dunban is.
8. Shulk's Return
I'm sure everyone got the chills on this part. It starts off with a hopeless battle against the telethia. Everyone tiring out and Dickson getting the upper hand. Then out of the blue, Shulk comes out, kills some telethia and turns around like a boss. And there was much cheering. This was the first time Shulk was active since that cutscene.
7. Metal Face Appears(Fiora's demise)
Oh boy, here it is. The moment that trapped me into this game. Who expected this? Fiora was probably my favorite character in the game at the time. Still is. this was tear inducing material here. Even if I didn't know her all that much.
6. Confrontation at Prison Island
Oh the Dickson fight, this part was epic. If you didn't love this game before, after seeing this, it should have clicked for you. Oh man do I love this moment. Nothing beats the point where Shulk and Fiora slowly walk toward him, Shulk glowing blue and Fiora glowing red, prepared to take Dickson down. And Shulk crying really got to me. Earlier in the game, you got some Dickson character development that established him as Shulk's father character. It all came down to the cigar falling on the ground for me to lose it. But still, I did not break down.
5. Battle at Prison Island
Not to be confused with the Confrontation at Prison Island, the battle at Prison Island was one of the 3 moments in this game where it just flipped my brain out of my skull. Two words. Fiora Lives. The main theme playing on the reveal was just perfect. I'm sure many can agree that this moment was amazing. But not the best.
4. The Destruction of Galahad Fortress
Words cannot describe how awesome this moment was. It was one of the few moments in the game where I was literally off the couch begging for Shulk to do what I wanted him to do. In fact I think it was the only moment that I did that. Either way, this moment left me in awe. It's one of those times when you just think "This game is amazing" and I'm sure I'm not the only one who thought that way on this part.
3. Ending
The whole thing. From the final boss to the history of the world, ending with a dawn of a new world, this ending left me aching for more. This was a moment where in my heart I was conflicted. I didn't know whether to jump in joy, or cry because I just spent 100 hours on the game and I didn't know what to do with my life. Here's a few more ending videos, because it can't be summed up simply.
2. The Return of Zanza
There are many ways you can describe this moment. The Rise of Zanza, the Fall of Shulk, the Death of Meyneth, Egil's Parting, Dickson's Betrayal, and The Crap Hits the Fan. Any one of these titles can be used to label this point of the game. That's how awesome this was. Just imagine having everything you knew about the game ripped from your mind and flipped around. Not to mention the Egil character development, and Meyneth's last words. This was another of the three moments that my brain was just flipping out. Alongside Metal Face Appears, and The Battle on Prison Island. But even this isn't my favorite moment.
1. The Fallen Arm
And here it is. My favorite moment in Xenoblade. The Fallen Arm. This was the moment where I did break down in tears of joy. Or at least I like to think of it that way, because it sums up my feelings on this moment. From when Shulk first lands on the fallen arm, to when Fiora meets up with Dunban. This moment was just perfect in nearly every way. We also got a great theme for the pair on this moment. Have a listen.
And that's about it. I know some of you may not agree with my list, so I will probably challenge a few of you to make your own list like this.
