Would you be interested/still buy Nintendo games if their Characters were more mature?

I would love to see some games take this approach.

Mario and Kirby are clearly games NOT meant for this, but a game like metroid, with a darker atmosphere and nightmare fuel level alien designs would be fantastic. Same with Zelda, with MM and TP proving that it can be more mature occasionally.
