Both games are intended to draw connections to previous titles, which was why I made my jab. I honestly haven't seen anyone make the mistake you've pointed out, but perhaps I haven't spoken with the right people. If there really is as much brand confusion as you seem to believe, a few comments to these confused consumers would be appreciated.

Personally, I like Xenoblade Chronicles X more than I would Xenoblade Chronicles II. It draws a connection to the previous game without sounding iterative. Xenoblade isn't an established brand like Final Fantasy, having "2" in the title could a potential turn-off for fans who hadn't played the first game. Conversely, the fans who did play the first game are likely aware of what X is. It's not like the first title pulled in a lot of casual fans who don't research games, it's a game targetting JRPG enthusiasts.

Also, I highly recommend looking up the word 'objective'.

Oh, you thought I was serious with the whole "objective" thing? My bad.
