Definitely sounds like connection problems. Your wireless connection may be the problem but it could also be your internet connection. But I'm sure you already know that as an IT professional ;)
Doesn't make it better though, that you can't install it offline.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
