This idea gets floated around time to time, but I could never see all these countries agreeing on a "Super League" of the top 20 clubs in Europe. Who would those 20 clubs be? How many representatives from each nation would there be? For example do you leave out Manchester United or Manchester City? AC Milan or Inter Milan?
Promotion and relegation are too ingrained in the culture of Europe. This would be like introducing it to baseball in the US and seeing AAA and MLB clubs swap places.
Both have their + and - and I think it's great to see opposing models at play. My biggest issue with Europe's model is in the past twenty years we've seen real stagnation as handful of clubs dominate respective leagues. On the flip side my issue with US sports is seeing clubs move to other cities or cities being held hostage on stadium deals.
Besides money is no issues with the Champions League being the biggest club sports event on the planet by miles.
