Fair enough. I guess my kudos to Nintendo stands in the sense that almost all the games are 1st party, while the PS4 gets the multiplats and 3rd party games.

That is still testament to Nintendo's strength as a publisher.

To support my figures I'd have to whip out my "ratio by publisher" thread I made a few months ago.

You're saying that as if its PS4's fault, but rather its the PS4's STRENGTH. Besides your argument fails due to the fact that Sony has only released 3 PS4 exclusives, all of them either very niche series for Sony or a poorly recieved new IP, and a year-old port to contribute to first-party software sales.

Meanwhile Nintendo has released 7 Wii U exclusives (8 in Japan), of which 4 games are part of their biggest series and 2 are well-recieved new IP's, and a 10 year old port to contribute to their first-party sales.

I'm saying that as if it's PS4's fault? I really have no idea what you're talking about.

Also, what I was trying to point out was that Nintendo was able to sustain SW sales almost all by itself on the U. They may have used established IPs, but that again goes to show how strong Nintendo's IPs are, when they can support a console almost entirely of themselves.

This is not a dig at Sony at all. Where Sony was able to attract 3rd parties successfully, Nintendo was able to support a console on 1st party titles alone (nearly). They are both different strengths. A manufacturer capable of both would be a scary beast to behold.

Any console can live on first-party games alone, what matters is how much they are able to sell with that. Clearly the Wii U hasn't been able to survive off first-party games alone. It had many third-party games in its early life when its sales were the highest. That indicates that it needs third-parties to sell.
