1080i and 1080p are the a similar family of resolutions, only one are resolutions scanned progressively and the others are interlaced, like is the case with 480i/p family resolutions. Progressively scanned is better.

Blu-Ray movie content and FullHD TVs all support 1920 x 1080 as the minimal standard, so that's probably the core of the confusion.


1080i and 1080p only share the number "1080". That's it. After all, how do 720p televisions display 1080i? Do they suddenly grow 360 pixels? Is black voodoo magic involved?

Mike, provide me a link showing that 1280x1080 is 1080p and I'll shut up. Small problem... You can't do it and you're too damned stubborn to admit you're wrong. You also won't stop misleading people with false information. Give. It. Up.
