My gaming decisions are made from:

"Opinions of Friends"

"Demo"

"Gameplay Videos and LPs"

"Opinions of Forum goers I agree with"

and then, if I still have some doubt I might take a look at a few revews. 

Reviews are just data points to add to the decision making process-  if u read a cross section of reviews I think the less sincere aspects of them can be filtered out-   

I think it is too bad that gaming has become the next political forum for what amount to a lot of disingenuous people elevating issues that are far less a problem in gaming than they are in many other aspects of entertainment and society -   

Inevetably these non market place forces will influence the industry for the wrong reasons and restrict what creators of video games feel like they can and can t do -
