The efficiency as others have pointed out outweighs the power differences. Ultra will be only slightly just above the PS4 because that's the cheapest thing to do. There's little incentive to really push the boundaries on PC because nobody can make money developing for just PC if they're pushing for super high end graphics

Star Citizen is the exception... Hence my huge investment in the game

That's what I think, and the reason that your  670 will probably be enough for the entire generation. They can't push the graphics too far because of consoles. Besides in a blind test almost no one can tell the difference between 'ultra' resolutions of texture against 'medium' ones in 1080p.

Yesterday I was playing Crysis and I was like: 'OMG it's 7 years old graphics! how could they do it?' because those graphics still kicking today. It's almost unbelievable how real those forests look. Some of the newer games can't match it.

By the way, I was playing Crysis with my old HD 5770 on 720p 60fps locked - some say that Shadow of Mordor will run about 720p on XOne! - and I'm waiting for my R9 280 to arrive. I really think (and hope) this card will be enough for this generation.
