If he didn't cause any damage to the statue, I don't see what the big deal is. Make him do some community service, teach him to have more respect for others. Taking the picture is nothing, climbing on top of someone else's property is the problem.

Maher is right that we overreact to little things in America, but if we want other cultures to be as free as ours, the best thing we can do is set a good example. Invite people of all cultures to come to America and show them that as long as their beliefs deserve respect, they will be respected. We have to start at home. I couldn't care less what Jonah Hill says to paparazzi, but there is enough work to be done here.

I guess I'm saying we have to find the middle ground. We can't tell a dozen countries to accept homosexuality right now or... or something. Or what? We'll stop talking to them? But Jonah Hill calling someone a faggot doesn't matter. What matters is that we're hardly in a position to tell other cultures they should be more open-minded about sexuality when same-sex marriage isn't legal in all 50 states.
