Because power back then made little difference. Even if you doubled the power of rivals, you wouldn't see much of a difference. Now though, you do and people have noticed it. Plus power now allows for a more varied game library which devs are opting for. Combine this with price and market image, and it is misguided to assume that the PS4 won't utterly dominate this generation.

The Wii wasn't that long ago. Another thing, how does the PS4's power allow for a more vaired game library? Aside from the resolution issue (which is overblown), there isn't a lot that PS4 can do that the Xb1 can't.
