Yep, and that's why Sony has been doing a lot better than MS in this year's games conferences overall. Sony demonstrated that they want to take more risks and explore different ideas. However, Microsoft's conferences, while decent, were too safe. When you look at some of Sony's announced games like The Tomorrow Children, Alienation, Wild, Abzu, Rime, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, and No Man's Sky, the uniqueness of these games really stand out. Also, check out the characters and their backstories for Without Memory. I really like the concept, thus far.
Even looking at multiplat new IPs like Watch Dogs and Destiny, they're unique in their own ways. While a lot of us has found either one or both underwhelming, they still have their own charms. And who's to say that they won't improve in their next iterations? Heck, who's to say that the current Destiny will be like Destiny a year later?
Long story short, new ideas and original concepts drive the gaming industry. It's a lot harder to come up and execute those ideas and concepts in comparison to already having a foundation to build off of.
