Why don't Americans like hockey?

To go from being the best in the league last season, and having two great years in a row, to not even  making the playoffs, really really sucks... 

That's what happens when your GM doesn't even try to negotiate a contract for Briere and Drury.

And refuses to deal with Vanek until a self-imposed deadline......and then Lowe comes and goes wild.

I think it's mostly because Americans don't grow up with hockey (excluding some northern states). Football, Baseball, Basketball, Nascar, and Golf are all at forefront. Hockey gets lost in the shuffle.
