Not improbable. Bayo 2 had a similiar opening to Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, which has sold 110k copies in about 7-10 months in Japan. Over the next couple years, lifetime sales for that title will probably get to 200k. Why not Bayonetta 2?

The first DKCR was on the Wii (Nintendo system) and actually sold 1 million units in Japan.

The first Bayonetta was on the PS3/360 (non Nintendo systems) and sold about 300k units in Japan.

Also DKCR was already a pretty leggy game in Japan it only sold about 15% of its lifetime units in its first week and about 65% after 4 weeks, the 3DS remake was also decently leggy, Bayonetta on the other hand sold over 65% of its japanese lifetime numbers in its first week (90% after 4 weeks) and the first Bayonetta reviewed just as well in Japan as the second did.

It's extremely improbable.

The difference in publishers matter. Nintendo can continously market a game whereas SEGA has always been more resource-constrained.

Let's consider another Platinum-produced IP The Wonderful 101 -- which had an even more horrible opening (less than 20k in first 10 weeks in Japan), yet the game has somewhat legged out over the last year to reach more than 50k. That's all owed to Ninty's deeper capability as a bigger publisher to position a game in the market for the long term.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016
