I will just add this to the flamefest:

To the folks saying people will buy a PS3 just because the series was first on the PS1 and PS2 - when Sony axed the BC from the PS3, they told the PS2 folks 'Get with the program - your PS2 is old. Step up and leave the past in the past.'

Sony PROVED how much they cared about the PS2 crowd. Why should the PS2 crowd swing their support to Sony after being pimped slapped?

Given the fact that most PS2s sold when they were $199 and less, I think it's safe to say the cheapest system will benefit the most from GTA IV. Plus, the cheaper system has the exclusive content - the ability to play in-game music and everything - EVERYTHING - the PS3 version has.

LOL at folks who think the complete but not complete version of GTA IV will move consoles from Sony. Blu Ray is moving consoles for Sony, not games.

Rockstar: "They're identical games. We're not hardware makers, and we're not like a pawn between these companies, we try not to be as much as we can. We make great games for people to enjoy on whichever system they want. But I guess if you want the complete experience with the episodes, then yeah, you should buy the 360, I suppose."

you're like a broken record

no - he has a point

not only is 360 cheaper but, it has the excl. content that everybody is trying to downplay

that's y i believe that GTAIV will move more 360s than PS3 in America and Others (not Japan of course)

what? I was only talking about the bolded section, madskillz seems to think that only blu-ray is selling the ps3, and nothing else. which is clearly dead wrong when you take 10 seconds to look at attach rates.

Yeah, please head over to the world software attach rates from Jan. '08 until now. Based on the number of consoles sold, as well as current owners, I don't believe the 360 has had a week where it was under 1M games moved. And that's without packed-in games either. Do it and see for yourself.

Broken record? LOL - I can hardly wait until the 360 version owns the PS3 version. Price matters big time. I'm calling the shot - make sure you bookmark this page and revive it a month after GTA IV drops. I'll gladly feast on crow if I'm wrong.

For a person working a low-paying job, with little cash and they wanna play GTA - to think they are gonna pay $480 plus just to play a version of GTA with no hopes of extra episodes is enough to make me run and get my asthma pump from laughing sooo hard. Sure, it will move a few consoles, but the way MS is gonna pimp the extra content angle, and plaster it online and on TV, even if folks never buy the content, MS has a sale.

Ads work wonders - and MS is gonna own GTA IV. Mark my words.

Alright.  I'm marking your words.  Just like the PS3 was going to sink below 360 sales after Christmas, which was rescheduled until the spring.  Now the Euro pricecut is in effect.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
