So, here is how I see it:

So far we have only one surefire thing we can hook on to: flipping wright will tell us for sure if Padib is lying or not. It's the only thing we have of solid ground. It doesn't make sense to not test that claim. Sure, there are fanciful complex situations where wright is a legit scan unit and the emp attack comes from a hiddden unseen ghost etc etc. This fanciful what if and so and such theory comes from prof, the very same who was quick to point to Occam's razor when questions about Wrights claim surfaced the first time. Apparently Occam's razor is a context sensitive tool.

So, the issues that points against padib's claim(s): His role is over powered, as in Bo Jackson in Tecmo Bowl over powered. Also, his claim leaves town with virtually no way to find the nuke outside him (who is not really town anyway). The claim has also progressively moved the deadline for when all will be revealed. Finally, assuming padib is right, seems like an awfully bold fake claim he made, he would have to assume there were scanning roles with the setup, seems like it would be pretty ballsy to claim to be the town scan unit if he is not.

In favor of padib's claim: it's a pretty elaborate and complex story to just weave together, complete with supporting flavor and all. Again, it would be a pretty complex gambit. Most importantly to me, if padib is trying to fake claim a nuke, why would he pick the claimed town scan role, possibly the worst choice in the whole game?

All things considered I am leaning towards checking this claim by lynching wright and then see what shakes out.

That's the thing. padib didn't claim to be Town scan role. He claimed that if attacked, he would know who did it. If find it hard to swallow that the only tool we have been given to find the Nuker is the off chance the Nuker would attack padib. That's insane.
