And, as far as I'm aware, Destiny was the biggest release it had left in that period (actually, I think it's the biggest release PS4 had slated for the rest of 2014). PS4 sales will pick up during the holiday period, but will mostly be a part of its second year. I'm expecting the next few weeks will see it drop down to around 150-200k per week again. So basically, PS4 looks like it's set to have around 12 million sales in its first year (give or take). Wii U will likely start closing in on that mark some time early or mid-2015. Maybe even later this year, if it has a strong holiday period, which is possible. |
It actually has eight weeks left, with many more releases than during most of the year aimed at different genres. Also it will have two weeks of holiday sales. So it will definitely sell a lot more than 12 million by that time, but won't outsell Wii U lifetime sales.
