This isn't about buttons, this thread has spread so far that people are ignoring the main interview where he said "make it more casual", "gives you that instant gratification" and "It'll basically be a one-button action, and the AI intuitively outputs an action that kind of satisfies". I used an example earlier that in previous FF games you fought a Bomb, you knew to use Ice, not fire, you went into the ATB menu selected the right spell and as long as you did it 3 times before it exploded, you won. This sounds like you just run up to it, click to attack and it attacks with ice for you. |
Well he specifically states in another interview that you have to be careful of what magic you use in certain environments, so we can't be certain of the what he actually means here, clearly none of us know how the game plays or how attacks are selected. Context sensitive output was expected, it could mean if you're a certain range away you use x attack, or if you're behind an enemy you execute z attack
''Weapons are set in a deck. During battle, the deck will choose the most appropriate weapon for the battle based on the situation.''
He also compares it to XII's gamebit system which is a tad worrying, as a good gambit system completely removed all need for player input.
