Lauches are always weak but there's still one or two games that look fantastic at launch--even in the same gen with later launches. I've been through every launch since the Nes and I've never experienced a feeling of "meh" more than i have this gen. Even if the graphics didn't blow me away (and being in HD, they actually did), the interface did. Look at a game like Dead Rising (months after launch), G.R,A.W., Condemned, or even Call of Duty. Those games wouldn't even be doable in earlier gens (maybe condemned) due to online or characters on screen. Hell, even downloadable games were something new.
8th gen, we get a Share Button and game DVR. Awesome.
