Reading comments from 2011 and 2012, you can see that people were certain Sony would somehow screw themselves again while MS could do nothing wrong with their next console. WiiU was easily going to dominate holiday 2012, because it was the new thing.
The february 2013 PS4 event changed everything.

tis true. I saw so man big threads about how CERTAIN it was that PS4 would not release in 2013 and the Xbox had the money to overpower them (ignoring the profitability of separate divisions influencing spending in those studios). One of the best "I told you so" situations I've ever been in lol
