This. It was definitely GOVT interference rather than MS incompetence. Still, home consoles will do terribly in China. So many misunderstand the kind of buyer for $400+ electronics over there. It's to show off. Apple has cachet, Microsoft does not. Oddly Buick has taken off there as a premium brand, but that's a car that you can easily show off so apples/oranges. I fully believe that they should have waited a few years and launched on redesign with a subsidized $99 version and subscription package, discless. Basically you agree to rent it for a year at 99 down and 20 a month, and you get free games every month and can buy them as well for new releases.
