My own personal plan for the way forward is to dump the EU and open the borders to Australia, NZ, Canada, West Indies/Caribbean, Ireland and maybe the US. Papa New Guinea too if they do a bit of updating. Do it unilaterally if necessary. Complete free trade, maybe a subsidy or two to get the ball rolling.

UK gives up it's seat on the UN to be replaced by the Commonwealth. 100M+ of the most successful (RICHEST) nations on the planet. Canada and Australia can outvote the UK if necessary. All on the condition that france loses it's seat to the EU. The nukes get moved to Newcastle, the Falklands and Oz if they want them. Can't trust the Scots anymore.
