Remember this is China we're talking about. I'm not surprised at all. If it was region free, I guess the Chinese government wouldn't be too happy that a product officially sold in China could play games not intended or allowed in the country. Also remember the piracy there. Not saying I like it, but it might be neccessary at the moment.
