I rated singleplayer a 7.5. Not because the story but because it just isnt as fun as it is when it comes to coop. You kind of want to show off your gear and partner up with your friends and stuff in this type of game.
I can't comment on the PS360 version since I havent played them. Just the XBO/PS4 version. You will need a HDD to save and install your game. Im not sure if you need gold to be honest, you could prob play it by yourself with AI but it would be missing the purpose of the game so I'd say yes you need gold to play it online
