Lets be clear. There have been intermittent retailer deals, and some bundling - both of which Sony already does.

The poster I responded too wrote "At this rate, I expect a $200 X1 by the end of next year " and yet its my post you take issue with?

I take no issue with your post... And for me a preposterous post regarding 200 by the end of the year don't even deserves a reply because you know what the intention of the poster was.

I replied to your post because I know you aren't trying any funny bussiness. And yes Sony does bundle, but for PS4 I haven't saw any free games bundle, the first bundle to have a discount is Destiny (10 dollars) if I'm not wrong.

And as I said, I agree there isn't a official pricecut, just several promotions, deals, etc... but it's clear that since TF the real price of a X1 was never 400 (assuming 100 for kinect during that time as well), because you always had one or two games for free or even limited time discounts... and all of those are great and MS had to try them to grab more sales. The only discussion that should be had on MS deals (which for people that want the games being offered on each of the individual deals are really good value) is that if they don't make too much to early and make customers be on hold waiting that maybe next month they will offer even a better value deal and end up making more harm than good with the deals.

I don't think anyone is going to question that Microsoft has had to offer greater incentives than Sony has to generate sales.

But there is this pervasive idea on these forums that Microsoft has somehow become desperate, based largely of a sense of price cutting that simply has not materialised (yet). One can make the argument that the price of entry has lowered with the removal of Kinect, but at the end of the day its apples and oranges as the SKU has substantially less features.

The fact of the matter is that MS is desperate to ignite XB1 sales, which have been a huge disappointment for the majority of 2014.

Hell, you dont see Sony selling a Destiny bundle for $399 or a Madden 15 bundle for the same price, or anything like that.

Even going back to the 360 vs. PS3 war, MS typically bundled games with their console without ever raising the price, and it should

be no surprise, as MS has an ample supply of cash on hand to absorb the losses from these sales promotions.
