I have barely played the previous 3D versions, the one I played the most was GTA 1 on the PC.
I also played a bit of GTA 3 on a friend's PS2, but didn't have enough time to appreciate the transition to 3D at that time. I'm fine with it now, which is why I pre-ordered GTA4.
