Something just occurred to me, if these cards come woth 4GB standard now I wonder if any manufacturer will do a 8GB version. I mean it would be absolutely worthless in terms of performance unless you were planning to run 4X SLI and run high end games at like 8k. But they might catch some uninformed people with the whole "oh PS4 has 8GB GDDR5 so I need that on PC to get better performance" angle lol.

I've been reading a bit about it these past days, and the engineering GTX 980 samples have 8GB, but the retail version will allegedly ship with 4GB (althought we all know some manufacturers love to make Nvidia cards with twice the RAM).

As for if 8GB is too much... well, the same could be said about the 6GB cards, right? And they made them.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070
