What would it take to crash the 'gamer game' industry?

Replace MS with Valve, or put both in for good measure.

This will cause the industry to get really close to crashing.

Makes sense to me, MS and Valve both gone means no new Windows gaming and no Steam OS.

 

But how do you envision that happening?
