The review read like a 7.5. I don't know what the OP thinks a reviewer is meant to do, but a reviewer is meant to base their review on their opinion of the game, and I have no problem with a reviewer talking about whether or not a game lived up to its pre-launch hype. Indeed the more reviewers punish games that get over-hyped BY the developer and publisher (can't do anything about the fans) the more likely devs and publishers are to not over-promise and under-deliver. Though in fairness to Destiny at least it can't be accused of false advertising, like Aliens Colonial marines.

I do think reviewers need to be balanced when it comes to criticising hype, especially in terms of it affecting the final score. If a game is genuinely a disappointment because it failed to meet realistic expectations, then it deserves to be criticised for it, and review scores should reflect the fact that it is a disappointing game. However if hype created unrealistic expectations, then reviewers should see past that sort of hype.
