This may or may not be true but I was talking with a couple people about the Mario Party franchise.

The last Mario Party game that I actually owned was Mario Party 2 on the N64 and I'm looking to  officially jump back into the series with Mario Party 10 on Wii U. We talked about how Mario Party 9 started this new mandatory way of playing in this new car and how it looks to be the same in Mario Party 10.

After I explained how I preferred the old classic way of playing and traversing the game boards individually, the went on to explain that Nintendo COULDN'T use that classic gameplay anymore.

Supposedly Hudson Soft(Mario Party devs) got bought out completely by Konami and wont be making MP games anymore. They SUPPOSEDLY patented the classic use of traversing the game board individually and using 20 coins to gain a star. And this is why Nintendo created the the party bus and this new way of playing to get around those patents.

Is this true??

I looked this up but couldn't find anything on it. If this is true, how would you all feel about Nintendo making it to where you now had to use 25 coins to gain a star?

I can't believe that because of Sonic Shuffle, Monopoly games and heck DBZ tenkaichi 2, all had something similar or just like it. If konami owned the rights, it wouldn't be seen in those games.
