Wow, I learned something new. I had no idea that Sony bought Sonic Foundry (original makers of ACID).

Anyway, MS is bad at making OSs. Just plain bad. I mean, seriously, did you never own a copy of ME? Did you never have your system essentially wrecked by XP SP1? Were you not aware that Win98 (probably the best OS they've ever made, other than server software) crashed while Bill Gates was showing it to the world for the first time? They simply suck at what they do, except being good businessmen.

They are good liars, thieves, and cheats, which is what every good businessman aspires to be, and they have made their money from that. Every aspect of the earlier windows OSs were stolen from Xerox, and every version since the first has only been adding more onto an idea they stole. And you know what? Apple stole the same ideas and managed to do them (slightly) better. The only difference is that MS made their product work with generic hardware while MacOS has always worked with Macs. At this point, I think MS would be in for a world of hell if Apple promoted their OS as something that worked on any computer.

No, MS cannot through experience program a better OS than Sony. Frankly, they can't even make a better OS than their existing competition, and nothing is stopping Sony from buying one of those companies out or hiring many of their employees, unless Sony just chooses not to. MS isn't the best at what they do (if you consider OSes to be what they do), and as long as Sony has a dime to their name that means they can always pay someone to do the job better than MS has. Always.
