Sorry for being lazy (not finding figures) but If I remember correctly the PS3 was never selling badly. Once it was released worldwide it consistently outsold the 360, just not in North america.
Equally the Xbox One was doing better at 500 dollars then it is at 400.
I think a 600 dollar system could do well if it has the software and tech to justify its price. Price is just the first thing that people blame and try to ammend because games can't be made over night. In my opinion its better off to differentiate your hardware and actually secure a market then just try to go toe to toe with your competitor, Xbox would be doing better at the moment if it just stuck with the original plan IMO.
