I personally think that Nintendo will have to make this gen as short as possible. Six years, tops. So, they'll kick off the "new generation" by releasing cheap hardware slightly more powerful than the PS4.

Here's the thing. New processor developments are starting to center around efficiency in terms of power, so raw power isn't as much of a focus now.

I personally expect them to announce the Wii U successor in Q1 2018, and release it Q4 2018. 3DS successor released a year before.
