This is what 'not core' meant from the very beginning and it will happen sooner or later. If the X1 does not win the generation or at least get nearly as profitable as the PS4, the investors will force MS to sell the division.
But spending 2 billion $ for a small indie studio without keeping the main developer would make no sense at all.
