I knew when posting that that it would be something people would pick up on and I actually debated if I should post this theory or not since some people have already started to call me scummy. I decided to post my thinking though just to have that point out there for people to consider. I agree it's not an automatic town read, but the lack of any meaningful signs of coaching in his play makes him lean town for me. Then again, maybe scum are content to just let him drift to the gallows on his own play rather than risk their necks for what seems to be nothing but a liability for either side. Anyway, given the playstyle of the person in question, if I was really scum trying to stealth coach him I would have been more direct, I seriously doubt that hints as subtle as this would be would have much effect. By the way, much of the same thinking can be applied to bugrimmar as well. Not a fan of either one of these guys play so far and don't think it would hurt much to lynch either one if it came down to it, but I would prefer to lynch someone with a little more substantial case against them. |
To be fair I don't exactly think you saying it is indicitive that you are mafia. Tho I do find it strange and noteworthy. Sorry to keep haring on my last game but its basically all of my experiance(on a side note I saw you said I had read the wikis. To be clear I have read some of the wikis and what I did read was pointed out last game. I beleive there was a conversation between hylian and theprof that discussed some tells and I looked into it. I do need to look into the wiki's more as there is a great deal I need to read up on and would suggest everyone doing the same at some point). Anyways this reminds me of a situation on day one of last game. RCT said something kind of like this, not exactly but it could be percieved as team coaching without day talk to theprof when we was about to go into an indepth analyses. RCT had warned him not wanting to give more ammunition to the mafia if theprof was wrong. I took advantage of that and used it as part of a quite "substantial" case against him.
I must admit I smiled when I read that word because I had to of used that word like 50 times last game. Anytime I was about to try and push for a vote for someone I said we should vote for the most substantial case. I thought it was a very town thing to do. I still think it is and logically it makes sense. You lynch the person with the strongest case against them. If they are town then you step back rexamin the case and look at the people who made the strong case and one of em will likely be mafia.
I am going to try and look at people and what they say with two seperate assumptions. 1. they are town and 2. they are mafia. I think what you said is noteworthy and I think if you are town its innoecent and you are likely trying to get into mafias head. If you are mafia I don't know if you would say something like this. Last game I noticed losts of dangerous slips from my team and even noticed some from myself after the fact that I was terrified of and asked for advice in day chat. Then again we had day chat and I don't know if I or anyone else would say something like this as a warning if there was none.
I do believe tho that if you are town then that is something mafia will try to use against you. So my advice if you are town, scrutinize anyone extra carefully that tries to build a case against you using this in particuler. It could be a slip and you could be mafia. More likely it is innocent and you are town but that ambiguity is there and Mafia will try and take advantage of it. I know I would, and I did last game. So keep note of that.
