It's not cynical to believe these companies will do all the can to 'fix' as much as they can to make as much money as they can. The idea is good but like you, I do not think it will happen not yet anyway. The consoles should act like PCs in the idea tht games can be played on them but without the expense and update for the use yet there are numerous ways to buy a game for it, download from various stores or disc based, from various stores.
