Ratchet>Jak

Just saiyan

This.

I love Jak & Daxter and Sly Cooper as well, but Ratchet is the best Sony platformer to me. Well, that is if you are considering Jak & Daxter as a platform series. Since Jak II and Jak 3 are more sandbox than platform games.

What about Little Big Planet?

I do love LBP, but... I see those games more like Developer Kits. I mean, the best levels on LBP are the ones made by the community. The single player in LBP is more like an extended demo. In terms of creative levels, strong stories, fun mechanics, and so on, the best ones are the user created levels.  Like Media Molecule said when they promoted LBP2. It's not a  platform game but a platform for games. That being said, it's not fair to compare LBP with other games.

Except Jak II is hard for all the wrong reasons which creates frustration. I shouldn't die because of poor level design or unresponsive controls. The lack of checkpoints makes it very frustrating to die because of a crappy camera angle or a very hard task at the end of the level. It's also a cheap way to further lengthen the game. And besides Jak II is also a step down from the first game on pretty much everything anyway. I'm super surprised this game got a pass at the time it came out. Most people who play the game today see the flaws that were overlooked at the time perhaps because the game had a great presentation and was open-world.

You've got a pretty good point. The game has not aged very well. But, back in the day, Jak II was pretty amazing. That game was like Mario 64 and GTA III having a baby.  And I'm not deffending Jak II and Jak 3 because I never liked them that much (simply because I never liked sandbox games).

Yeah, yeah, nowadays they are frustrating in many things: it's difficult to control the vehicles (Jak II), it's boring to go from one part of  the city to another to get missions, and so on. But you can't judge it with nowadays standards. Those games were considered "great."

Fortunately, I had the Ratchet & Clank series to play.
