Groot noticed the slight half-smile Nina gave him. Smiling, that was something Groot hadn't done in a while. His old gang had an accident merely two months ago. Two deaths, His best friend Rocket and Drax, while Star Lord and Gamora became paralyzed. He couldn't save them like last time, and Groot still held a lot of guilt, so he hadn't known happiness for awhile. T.E.C.H's response was cruel. They simply did legal procedures, gave him some monetary compensation and sent him on another damn mission. He hated them, but he hated these aliens even more, so Groot complied. No one seemed to care how Groot was recovering, but even if in just formalities, it was nice to see someone at least pretended to care about him.

Groot smiled back politely then went back to wander in his thoughts reliving that moment over and over again, hoping not to make the same mistake. "I am Groot" he mumbled, which meant he shouldn't have to worry because he can never care for anyone here as much as his old team. So deep in thought, he didn't notice the developing tensions between the other members....

Nina Ek

Nina paid no mind to the oddly speaking man in black and red with a trench coat.  His rambling was incoherent and seemed to feature non sequitors and references lost on her.

She felt far more interested in the silent giant to her right and the feeling of remorse that emanated from him.  She knew that feeling too well, the sense of loss and regret. She gently placed her hand on his branch or arm, she wasn't sure what to refer to it as, and focused deeply in meditation.  He did not resist, seemingly lost in his own thoughts.  She knew he had experienced much, but she struggled to make sense of the fantastic images of talking Raccoons and space travel. She may not have a full picture, but she understood tragedy too well.  Surprised to feel tears welling up in her eyes Nina pulled back and felt panges of guilt for intruding on his memories. She had not expected it to be this easy, then again humans tended to shield thier minds while this being seemed indifferent to her presence.

She wiped her eyes quickly with the back of her hands and sat in silence again.
