Max Irving

Max lay dozing off in the corner, trying to shut out all the noise. No sooner had he gone off with T.E.C.H. than he'd been sent off on this mission. Now he was cooped up with an assortment of odd characters, going to a country he'd never been to, to fight something both literally and figuratively alien to him. He was still no closer to understanding what the spaceship's energy had done to him, nor how T.E.C.H. knew he was affected by it. He was catching bits and pieces of the conversations going on, discerning what he could about his teammates and making mental notes of things that interested him.

<Dylan, was that his name? Much too arrogant for my taste.> He thought to himself. <He was right though, that rookie is far too nervous for his own good. Poor bastard.>

...

<Hmm, that Russian woman...quite the piece of work there. What I wouldn't give for a chance to comb through that unstable mind of hers. I doubt I'd like what I find, but it'd certainly be interesting. I must make a mental note to ask her how exactly those strings of hers work.>

Feeling satisfied with his rest, he sat up and looked around the room to get a better look at his new companions. Suddenly it occurred to him to do a little research. Reading his eye movements, his glasses switched into scanning mode, and he began silently gathering information on everyone in the room. The red-suited man who called himself Deadpool yielded some very interesting results. Listening to him talk, it was clear he was even more unstable than the Russian girl, yet he was the most well armed by far. <What an infuriating attitude, as well. I'll have to keep my eye on this one.> Another interesting scan was of the tree man. All he'd said throughout the trip was "I am Groot." Scans indicated that he was almost entirely composed of plant material. <He seems so friendly though, ironically of all the people on this ship, I think the most trustable one is the tree man.> Not much on that Jack fellow. <Hmm, he seems cold, hard to read.> The scans identified two of the individuals as being related to several famous bioterrorism incidents that took place. <Incredible! To think I was alongside such legends all this time! Those two should be very useful in the battles ahead.> Closer scans of the psychopath girl revealed she was carrying a scalpel and a Bible. <What in God's name...she may be crazier than I thought...> The other woman, Nina, seemed very mysterious. She seemed skilled with blades, like him, and her blade's quality was absurd. Her face told a story of someone who had been through much. Somehow he suspected they would get along.

He switched to his thermal visor mode, and looked around. He was surprised to see someone hiding in the cargo bay. He decided to investigate.
